Colt Technology Services Completes Sale of Eight Data Centers Across Europe
Colt Technology Services has finalized the sale of eight data centers located in Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK to firms owned by DWS Group, a prominent German asset management firm.
The data centers were originally acquired by Colt through the purchase of Lumen’s EMEA operations. The European sites have been transferred to NorthC, while the London facilities have been sold to another DWS-managed platform.
While some may view this move as unexpected, especially considering the hefty price tag of the Lumen EMEA deal, Colt strategically chose to focus on its core assets. By divesting these data centers, Colt can concentrate on providing network services to these facilities without the burden of managing them.
Colt Technology Services and Colt Data Centre Services: Clarifying the Relationship
It’s important to note that Colt Technology Services and Colt Data Centre Services (DCS) are separate entities under the Colt Group umbrella. The recently sold data centers were owned by Colt Technology Services, while Colt DCS operates independently with 13 operational sites and future expansions in the pipeline.
Keri Gilder, CEO of Colt Technology Services, expressed satisfaction with the divestment, stating, “The sale will enable us to focus on our strategic imperatives of driving growth, delivering exceptional customer experience, and building a sustainable network for the future.”
NorthC Acquires Data Centers in Key European Markets
NorthC will be taking over data centers in Frankfurt, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Düsseldorf, and Amsterdam as part of the agreement. These facilities collectively offer more than 25MW of available power, with Colt remaining a customer in the acquired sites.
Alexandra Schless, CEO of NorthC Group, highlighted the significance of this acquisition in expanding their presence in key economic regions of Germany. The partnership with Colt will enhance the connectivity eco-system within each facility, unlocking growth opportunities for both companies.
The sale of these data centers, initially announced in April 2025, has now been successfully completed, marking a significant milestone for Colt Technology Services and NorthC.
