Samsung is rumored to be introducing a ‘Pro’ version in its upcoming flagship smartphone lineup, replacing the Samsung Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ with a Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro and S26 Edge. However, it appears that the charging capabilities of these new premium phones will not be upgraded.

Recent reports suggest that Samsung will stick with 25W wired charging for the new devices, as indicated by a tipster and confirmed through certification listings.

A listing on China’s 3C regulator revealed that while the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will support 45W charging, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro and Edge will only support up to 25W.

This decision to maintain the same charging speed as the previous models may pose a challenge for Samsung, especially considering the competition from Apple’s recently announced iPhone 17 range, which offers faster charging speeds with the use of a 40W charger.

Leaked images suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro will bear a resemblance to the Galaxy S25, with enhancements such as a larger display, a bigger battery, Qi charging, and an improved camera.

The charge against Samsung

This choice to retain the current charging speed for the new Samsung models raises concerns, particularly in comparison to the advancements made by rival brands like Apple. It remains to be seen how consumers will respond to this decision and whether it will impact the overall appeal of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro and S26 Edge.
