Slow Horses season 5 is a riveting continuation of the popular Apple TV+ series based on Mick Herron’s Slough House novels. The show has garnered a loyal following over the years, with season 4 being particularly well-received. Season 5 picks up the pace with even more high-octane action and character development that fans have come to love.

The season kicks off with a bang as a shooting in a quiet London suburb sets off a chain of events that threatens to spiral out of control. The slow horses, MI5 exiles based out of Slough House, find themselves embroiled in a race against time to unravel the mystery behind the attack and its connection to the upcoming London Mayoral election.

One of the standout aspects of Slow Horses season 5 is the way it ups the stakes from previous seasons. While there may not be a villain as compelling as Frank Harkness from season 4, the new “bad actors” introduced in this season bring plenty of chaos and intrigue to the table. The show keeps viewers on the edge of their seats with its fast-paced storytelling and unexpected twists.

The ensemble cast of Slow Horses also gets more involved in season 5, with characters like Roddy Ho and Jk Coe taking center stage alongside series regulars like Lamb and River Cartwright. The addition of new characters like Mayor Zafar Jaffrey adds depth to the show’s already rich tapestry of personalities.

Despite a few minor character sidelining for availability reasons, Slow Horses season 5 remains a highly enjoyable six-episode run that will satisfy fans of the series and Herron’s books. The changes from the source material feel natural and keep the show fresh and engaging. With the sixth season already filmed and a seventh on the way, the future looks bright for Slow Horses and its dedicated fan base.

Overall, Slow Horses season 5 is a thrilling continuation of a beloved series that delivers on action, humor, and suspense. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the world of Slough House, this season is definitely worth a watch.

In the hopes that the team set to take the reins for the upcoming season 6 and beyond can carry on the legacy of bringing Herron’s captivating world to the screen with the same level of quality and intrigue.

If you find yourself missing the presence of a character as iconic as Jackson Lamb in your viewing schedule after the conclusion of this season of Slow Horses, fret not, as the creators of the show are currently in the process of adapting Herron’s earlier work, Down Cemetery Road, with a star-studded cast that includes the talents of Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson.

Slow Horses season 5 is set to premiere on Apple TV+ globally on 23 September 2025, with new episodes being released weekly.
