Google and Qualcomm recently made headlines at the Snapdragon Summit, celebrating its 10-year anniversary. This year, Rick Osterloh from Google predicted that smart glasses would revolutionize AI technology in the near future. During the event, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon and Osterloh discussed the exciting potential of wearable technology, particularly smart glasses.

Osterloh expressed his enthusiasm for bringing AI capabilities to consumers on a mass scale through smart glasses, emphasizing the transformative impact it could have on how we interact with technology. This innovation is expected to come in the form of Android XR devices, a new platform developed by Google for extended reality experiences.

While Samsung’s Project Moohan headset is set to launch soon, Google’s future in the smart glasses market remains uncertain. The competition with Meta, which recently released its Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 smart glasses, poses a challenge for Google. However, Google’s advanced AI technology, including the Gemini AI agent, could give them a competitive edge in the market.

Qualcomm also showcased their vision for integrating AI into various devices, including smart glasses that offer assistance in daily tasks and recommendations based on user preferences. The question remains whether Google can catch up to competitors like Meta and Samsung in the smart glasses arena.
