Unlike Gen V, the inaugural spin-off of The Boys, which introduced a youthful cohort of supes at Godolkin University, Vought Rising will delve into an earlier generation of superheroes, operating several decades before the reign of Homelander and The Seven.
Eric Kripke envisioned Vought Rising, with showrunner duties entrusted to Paul Grellong, a key figure behind The Boys. Following a period of anticipation, details about the series are gradually surfacing.
Anticipated Release Date of Vought Rising
At present, there is no official confirmation regarding the release date of Vought Rising. However, it is known that the project is currently in the production phase.
The anticipated release date for The Boys season 6 is projected to be in the summer of 2026, having concluded filming in June 2026. Therefore, if the production timeline aligns and filming wraps up this year, there is a possibility that Vought Rising might debut later in 2026.
If filming extends into the following year, a release in 2027 is more plausible.
Plot Details of Vought Rising
The upcoming series will serve as a prequel to The Boys, focusing on Soldier Boy, portrayed by Jensen Ackles. The narrative will unfold in the 1950s, during the prime years of this iconic superhero.

It’s a dark mystery delving into the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early adventures of Soldier Boy, and the sinister schemes of a supe known to fans as Stormfront, then operating under the alias Clara Vought. Get ready for a captivating, blood-soaked saga infused with Compound V.
Soldier Boy, the original and most formidable Vought supe, was prominent during the Cold War era, leading the superhero team known as Payback. Following a military mission in Nicaragua, he disappeared, only to be discovered by Butcher and his team in The Boys season 3.
Similar to Homelander, Soldier Boy presented himself as the epitome of an American hero – virtuous and courageous. However, his true nature was revealed to be aggressive, narcissistic, and perilous, leading to his ultimate downfall.
Soldier Boy made a brief appearance at the conclusion of The Boys season 4, hinting at his return in the series’ final season.
Another key character returning in Vought Rising is the infamous Stormfront, also known as Klara Risinger. This superhero made her debut in The Boys season 2 as a member of The Seven, quickly amassing a following due to her extremist views and social media influence. Initially a rival to Homelander, she later became his ally and romantic interest.
It was later revealed that Stormfront, born in Germany in 1919, was a supporter of the Nazi Party and the spouse of scientist Frederick Vought, the creator of Compound V. Upon injecting herself with the substance, she became the first documented superhero.
Following World War II, Frederick and Klara relocated to the US, where she assumed the identity of Liberty. At a certain point, she crossed paths with Soldier Boy and forged a partnership with him, leading to the creation of the clandestine superhero gathering known as Herogasm.
Vought Rising promises to delve deeper into the backstory and relationship between Stormfront and Soldier Boy.
Cast Lineup of Vought Rising
Jensen Ackles, renowned for his portrayal of Soldier Boy in The Boys seasons 3 and 4, will reprise his role as the war hero superhero. He is also speculated to star in the highly-anticipated Supernatural revival.
Aya Cash, known for her role as Stormfront in The Boys season 2, will return as the supremacist supe.
