Google has officially announced its plans to merge its Android and ChromeOS platforms, aiming to create a unified system for all its devices. This move was confirmed by Google’s President of Android Ecosystem, Sameer Samat, in an interview with TechRadar.

In the interview, Samat mentioned the integration of ChromeOS and Android into a single platform, showing a clear indication of Google’s direction towards a consolidated operating system.

Google’s unified future

An earlier report suggested that Google planned to transition ChromeOS to Android to better compete with Apple’s integrated ecosystem. The seamless integration across Apple devices, including MacBook, iPhone, and iPad, has set a high standard for user experience.

Google had already started incorporating Android technology into ChromeOS, hinting at a future convergence of the two platforms. This shift will see future Chromebook devices running on the Android OS, with additional features like Linux apps via a terminal.

With enhancements in keyboard, mouse, and external monitor support, the unified future of Android and ChromeOS appears inevitable, promising a seamless experience across Google devices.
