  • Nothing Ear (3) earphones unveiled

British technology company Nothing has provided a glimpse of Nothing OS 4.0, its upcoming smartphone user interface based on Android 16, showcasing a range of innovative features.

Nothing is gearing up to release Nothing OS 4.0, a new smartphone UI based on Android 16, boasting unique features and improvements.

Nothing initially introduced NOS 4.0 during the launch of the Nothing Phone (3) in early July, with a planned release timeframe of “early autumn.” Ahead of this release, Nothing has shared a post outlining some of the enhancements coming to Nothing devices.

With a focus on a more seamless and intuitive design, users can anticipate a cleaner Quick Settings menu, a more responsive lock screen and always-on display, and a variety of redesigned lock screen clocks.

The new Extra Dark Mode aims to take Nothing’s signature dark aesthetic further, providing an additional level of contrast to conserve power, reduce eye strain, and enhance the visual appeal.

Additionally, an AI Usage Dashboard will offer insights into the AI processes running in the background, a feature not commonly found on devices like the Google Pixel 10 Pro.

A new Pop-up View feature will enable users to multitask with two floating apps simultaneously, enhancing productivity and user experience.

According to Nothing, “NOS 4.0 will soon be available on Nothing smartphones.” While specific timelines or device models are not specified, it is likely to debut on the Nothing Phone (3) initially.

Nothing has announced its upcoming Open Beta testing program, allowing select members of the Nothing community to experience the Android 16-based UI firsthand.

The earphones boast a redesigned ergonomic shape and a case made from 100% anodised recycled aluminium.

Equipped with 12mm dynamic drivers and up to 45db of Adaptive Noise Cancellation, the earphones also support Hi-Res LDAC audio at 24-bit, offering high-quality sound. With a battery life of up to 10 hours of continuous playback, these earphones are priced at ÂŁ119/$79 and are now available on the Nothing website.
