Recent reports indicate that the Pixel 6 Pro’s camera woes continue even after Google’s latest Android 16 update.
Since the launch of the Android 16 beta six months ago, Pixel 6 Pro users have faced crashes when attempting to record videos on their devices. This issue persisted even after the stable release in June.
Hopes were high that the August update would address this issue, but unfortunately, the problem remains unresolved.

According to Android Headlines, users have been experiencing crashes while switching between lenses during 4K video recording at 30fps on the Pixel 6 Pro, with a warning message stating that “part of the video may not have been saved” before the crash occurs.
One of the major challenges in resolving this issue lies in Google’s lack of acknowledgment of the problem.
Various attempted solutions, such as clearing the camera app’s cache or performing a full phone reset, have proven ineffective in addressing the persistent camera crashes.
Given that the problem extends beyond the Pixel 6 Pro’s warranty period (which debuted in October 2021), it cannot be attributed to a hardware defect and claimed under warranty.
Android 16 Security Patch
Google recently rolled out an Android 16 update that addressed a critical security vulnerability. Prior to the patch, hackers could remotely access Pixel phones without any user interaction.
The latest update also resolves issues with the dark theme activation and unresponsive back command.
While users anticipate the Material 3 Expressive redesign accompanying the Pixel 10 series launch in August, the immediate priority for Pixel 6 Pro owners remains a stable camera app.
