Vodafone and Three Merger: How It Will Impact Consumers

When it comes to choosing a mobile network provider in the UK, you might be overwhelmed by the options available. However, many of these providers actually operate as ‘piggyback’ networks, utilizing the infrastructure of the main networks like EE, O2, and the recently merged VodafoneThree.

The merger between Vodafone and Three UK owners CK Hutchison was finalized on May 31, 2025. This new entity aims to revolutionize the 5G network landscape in Europe, enhance customer experience, and offer better value to mobile and broadband users across the UK.

Existing Vodafone and Three customers can expect improvements in their mobile network coverage as the two companies have begun sharing their infrastructure. Additionally, Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) that rely on Vodafone or Three’s networks will also benefit from this collaboration.

As part of the merger agreement, prices and contract terms for wholesale services purchased by MVNOs will remain competitive until 2028. This ensures that customers of MVNOs such as Voxi, iD Mobile, and others continue to enjoy affordable plans.
