Deepx, an innovative AI chip manufacturer, has forged a strategic collaboration with tech giant Baidu to propel on-device AI solutions across various sectors like drones, robotics, and OCR.
The partnership revolves around leveraging Baidu’s open-source deep learning platform, PaddlePaddle, to facilitate the development and deployment of AI models. Deepx’s cutting-edge DX-M1 chip has demonstrated exceptional performance and energy efficiency when integrated with Baidu’s AI models, particularly in edge computing environments.
Deepx collaborates with Baidu to enhance on-device AI solutions for industrial applications, utilizing the powerful DX-M1 chip and PaddlePaddle framework for optimal performance.
Both entities are focused on integrating AI models tailored for drones, robots, and OCR into Deepx’s hardware for real-world implementation. Additionally, Deepx is in the process of adapting OpenVINO-based AI models to ensure compatibility with the DX-M1 chip, thereby facilitating seamless integration within the PaddlePaddle ecosystem.
Lokwon Kim, CEO of Deepx, expressed excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing the significant impact it will have on expanding the reach of Deepx’s AI semiconductor technology globally. The company aims to enhance its market competitiveness by leveraging the PaddlePaddle and ERNIE Ecosystem, along with forging partnerships across various industries.
In addition to its current initiatives, Deepx is actively developing a vision-focused NPU card (V-NPU) as a GPU replacement, with plans for mass production slated for September 2025. The company also has ambitious future plans involving the utilization of Samsung’s cutting-edge 2nm AI semiconductor for next-generation product development.
