The Trump administration is actively involved in discussions with semiconductor giant Intel, aiming to assist the company in expanding its U.S. manufacturing operations. Reports from Bloomberg indicate that the U.S. government is considering taking a stake in Intel to support its efforts, particularly in advancing its Ohio chip factory project.

Recent developments reveal a close relationship between Intel and the Trump administration, with President Donald Trump advocating for the resignation of Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan due to perceived conflicts of interest. This move followed inquiries from Republican U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton regarding Tan’s alleged connections to China. Shortly after, Trump met with Tan to address concerns and explore avenues for collaboration between Intel and the government, leading to discussions about a potential direct investment by the U.S. government in the company.

Despite these ongoing discussions, Intel has refrained from providing official comments on the matter. However, an Intel spokesperson emphasized the company’s dedication to supporting President Trump’s initiatives to enhance U.S. technology and manufacturing leadership. While Intel looks forward to further cooperation with the administration, they have chosen not to engage in speculation or address rumors at this time.
