The FRA-Mainz campus, a groundbreaking collaboration between Green Mountain and KMW, is revolutionizing sustainable infrastructure in a remarkable way.
A New Era of Sustainability
The FRA-Mainz campus, a partnership between Green Mountain and KMW, is spearheading a new era of sustainable infrastructure.
Powered entirely by renewable energy from KMW’s wind and solar resources, the site showcases a commitment to environmental excellence.
Instead of traditional diesel backup, the campus relies on gas-turbine emergency power for enhanced efficiency.
Cooling needs are met by utilizing the nearby Rhine River as a cooling source, further reducing the carbon footprint.
The surplus heat generated by the facility will be channeled into Mainz’s district-heating network through innovative heat-pump technology, benefiting thousands of households and key landmarks like the Mainz Cathedral and Mewa Arena.
These initiatives not only minimize COâ‚‚ emissions but also demonstrate a strong dedication to environmental stewardship.
Svein Atle Hagaseth, EVP & Chief Business Officer of Green Mountain Global, affirms, “This anchor agreement reflects the confidence that industry leaders have in our sustainable delivery model and our commitment to large-scale, environmentally conscious data center infrastructure.”
The capacity rollout will occur gradually over approximately 3.5 years, showcasing a meticulous approach to sustainable growth.
