Container terminal operator Maher Terminals has partnered with Nokia and Future Technologies Venture to modernize operations using Nokia’s Edge platform and private wireless technology. This collaboration aims to enhance operational efficiency and visibility across Maher Terminals’ port operations in New Jersey.

Maher Terminals, a leading container terminal operator, has joined forces with Nokia and Future Technologies Venture to revolutionize their operations using Nokia’s cutting-edge Edge platform and private wireless technology. By leveraging Nokia’s advanced Edge silicon, Maher Terminals can now benefit from secure, high-capacity, low-latency wireless connectivity essential for real-time analytics, increased automation, and heightened security measures. This innovative solution is set to transform yard control, crane control, and gate operations at Maher Terminals’ expansive 450-acre facility in Port Elizabeth, New Jersey.

David de Lancellotti, Vice President of Enterprise Campus Edge Sales at Nokia, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to work with Future Technologies Venture and implement a platform that aligns with Maher Terminals’ business and sustainability objectives.” Nokia’s Edge platform for industries seamlessly integrates devices, edge computing, applications, and private wireless connectivity, empowering Maher Terminals to elevate their operational efficiency and enhance visibility across their port operations.

Nokia’s Digital Automation Cloud (DAC) provides a secure private wireless network for asset tracking, positioning, and vehicle-to-person communications. With Nokia’s industrial devices and network control applications, data can be transferred swiftly and efficiently, enabling remote configuration and firmware upgrades for connected devices. The Network Digital Twin capability facilitates live telemetry, enabling better prediction and validation of wireless coverage. This collaboration is strategically designed to enhance operational efficiency, cybersecurity measures, and sustainability efforts at Maher Terminals.
