The European Commission has revealed the next stage in Europe’s artificial intelligence strategy by unveiling six new AI Factories across the continent. This latest expansion increases the total network to 19 AI Factories spanning 16 EU Member States, further solidifying Europe’s position as a global leader in digital innovation and AI sovereignty. The new facilities, situated in Czechia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, and Poland, will serve as vital hubs for research, innovation, and industrial adoption of AI. With a joint investment of €500m from the EU and national governments, startups, SMEs, and researchers will have direct access to AI-optimized supercomputers, training, and technical expertise. This initiative is part of a broader €2.6bn commitment to the AI Factories and Antennas Initiative, aligning with the European Commission’s goal of establishing a digitally sovereign ‘AI Continent.’
