In a Nutshell

  • Motorola unveils Moto X70 Air in China
  • Specifications disclosed before the 31 October launch
  • Possible variations with Motorola Edge 70

Motorola has officially introduced the Moto X70 Air, a sleek addition to the world of ultra-thin smartphones, likely to be rebranded as the Motorola Edge 70 for Western markets.

The Moto X70 Air is officially listed on the Lenovo China website, giving a detailed overview of its specifications ahead of its launch on 31 October. The specs raise some questions about the company’s global release strategy.

The standout feature of the X70 Air is its remarkably slim design, measuring just 5.3mm in thickness and weighing a mere 159g. This makes it even slimmer and lighter than competitors like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and the iPhone Air.

Interestingly, the listed specs for the X70 Air differ from the previously confirmed 5.99mm thickness and 170g weight of the Motorola Edge 70, hinting at potential differences between the two models.

The difference in thickness and weight between the X70 Air and Edge 70 is not attributed to the battery, as both models feature 4,800mAh cells, a significant upgrade compared to competitors. This is made possible by silicon-carbon technology.

The X70 Air supports 68W charging and boasts IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance, adding to its appeal.

Featuring a 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED display with 1.5K resolution and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, the X70 Air offers an impressive visual experience.

Powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC, the X70 Air positions itself as a lower-tier device compared to its ultra-thin rivals.

As more details emerge through Motorola’s Edge 70 teaser quiz, the differences between the X70 Air and Edge 70 are becoming clearer. This unexpected deviation from expectations adds an element of excitement to the upcoming launch.
