Amazon is set to lay off 2,303 corporate employees in Washington state, with the majority of the cuts affecting its Seattle and Bellevue offices. This move marks the first geographic breakdown of the company’s global job cuts, shedding light on the impact of the restructuring process on specific regions.

A comprehensive list accompanying the state filing reveals a diverse range of roles being affected, from software engineers and program managers to designers and recruitment professionals. Notably, senior and principal-level positions are also on the chopping block, reflecting Amazon’s overarching goal of eliminating bureaucracy and enhancing operational efficiency.

The announcement of these layoffs comes as part of a broader initiative led by CEO Andy Jassy to streamline Amazon’s operations. Jassy had previously hinted at the likelihood of a leaner corporate workforce due to efficiency gains from AI technology.

In a memo issued by HR chief Beth Galetti, Amazon hinted at further downsizing efforts extending into 2026. Reuters reported on Monday that the total number of job cuts could potentially reach 30,000 as the restructuring process continues into the following year.
