Inventprise, a biotechnology company based in Redmond, Washington, is undergoing a workforce reduction, with 76 employees being laid off, as reported by the Washington Employment Security Department. The company is known for its work in developing vaccines for various infectious diseases.

GeekWire has contacted Inventprise for further information regarding the layoffs.

The affected employees are spread across Inventprise’s Redmond and Woodinville locations, as well as some remote workers, with the first round of layoffs set to take effect on December 31.

The job titles impacted include roles in manufacturing, quality control, research and development, and technical positions, as outlined in the official filing.

With close to 200 employees, according to its LinkedIn profile, Inventprise was established in 2012 with a focus on tackling global health challenges in low- and middle-income countries. One of its key projects is the Phase 2 trials of IVT-PCV-25, a pneumococcal conjugate vaccine candidate.

Dr. Subhash Kapre, who previously collaborated on vaccine initiatives with the Gates Foundation, founded Inventprise. The foundation has shown support for the company with grants exceeding $13 million. Currently, Dr. Kapre serves as the chairman, while Yves Leurquin, a former executive at Takeda, leads as the CEO since 2021.
