Modern data center infrastructure is constantly evolving, presenting challenges for power monitoring systems. The UMG 801 modular power analyzer by Janitza offers a unique solution to this issue. It allows for seamless expansion of current measuring channels without the need for system downtime, making capacity planning more flexible and efficient.

As data centers continue to grow and evolve, the need for efficient power monitoring systems becomes increasingly crucial. Traditional systems often face challenges such as over-specifying capacity or undergoing disruptive upgrades as requirements expand. Janitza’s UMG 801 modular power analyzer addresses these issues by providing a scalable solution that can expand from eight to 92 current measuring channels without any system downtime, allowing for more flexible capacity planning.

One of the key advantages of the UMG 801 is its space-saving design, making it ideal for cabinets with limited space. Even when fully expanded, this analyzer requires significantly less DIN rail space compared to traditional systems. This space reduction is achieved through the use of low-power current transformer modules that efficiently consolidate measuring tasks into a single sub-unit.

The UMG 801 is equipped with ten virtual slots that can accommodate a variety of plug-and-play modules offered by Janitza. Whether it’s traditional transformer modules, low-power options, or digital input modules, the UMG 801 provides versatility and adaptability. Bridge modules further simplify connectivity, allowing for easy linking of measurement points up to 100 meters apart while reducing installation complexities and costs.

With a voltage sampling rate of 51.2 kHz, the UMG 801 ensures Class 0.2 accuracy across different parameters. This level of precision is essential for calculating Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and identifying any distortions that could impact UPS performance. The analyzer’s 4GB memory ensures uninterrupted data recording, even in the event of network outages.

In compliance with ISO 50001 standards, the UMG 801 supports robust communication through dual Ethernet interfaces and native OPC UA protocols, enabling seamless data exchanges. A strategic combination of Modbus TCP/IP and legacy RS-485 infrastructure ensures backward compatibility, maintaining secure and authorized system access.

The UMG 801 prioritizes user-friendly deployment with its integrated web server, eliminating the need for proprietary software. Additionally, the availability of a remote display option enhances functionality by enabling real-time monitoring and adjustments during active operations.

Overall, the Janitza UMG 801 is a scalable, precise, and cost-effective solution tailored for data centers that require dynamic adaptability and high integration efficiency in a compact footprint.
