Launched in 2020 by Franek Sodzawiczny and KKR, GTR is strategically expanding its presence in key European data center markets. The company currently operates prominent facilities such as the ‘GB One’ campus in London and ‘IS One’ in Tel Aviv. In a strategic move, GTR acquired a site near Barcelona in 2023, leveraging the city’s submarine cable landing station to connect Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. Additionally, the company announced plans to develop an AI campus in Ealing, West London, and a new data center named ‘CH One’ in Zurich, Switzerland.
‘Substantial Development Pipeline’
GTR’s recent announcement of additional funding from KKR and Oak Hill Capital will support its extensive development pipeline. The company aims to expand its greenfield capacity and enter new European markets to cater to the growing demand for high-performance data center solutions. With a focus on meeting the accelerating need for AI-ready infrastructure, GTR is well-positioned for rapid scalability across Europe.
Andrew Peisch, a partner at KKR, emphasized the crucial role of high-quality, power-efficient data center infrastructure in Europe, given the increasing cloud and AI demands. GTR CEO Franek Sodzawiczny highlighted the investment as a pivotal moment for the company, enabling them to meet the rising needs of hyperscale and AI-driven customers, expand their team and operational capabilities, and venture into new markets swiftly.
