Empowering West Texas Schools: Duos Edge AI’s Abilene Data Center Brings Localized Compute Solutions

Duos Edge AI, a subsidiary of Duos Technologies Group, has recently introduced a cutting-edge edge data center (EDC) in Abilene, Texas in collaboration with Region 14 Education Service Center (ESC). The primary objective of this EDC is to enhance digital infrastructure for K-12 education, healthcare, workforce development, and local businesses in West Texas. By offering high-speed, low-latency AI capabilities and secure data processing, the center aims to support over 40 school districts and charter schools across an 11-county region.

“Collaborating with Region 14 ESC to bring advanced technology to Abilene and West Texas is truly exciting. By introducing a carrier-neutral colocation facility to the market, we are empowering educators and communities with the necessary tools to thrive in a digital era,” expressed Doug Recker, the president of Duos and the founder of Duos Edge AI. “This EDC underscores our dedication to fostering innovation and driving economic growth in regions that have historically faced connectivity challenges.”

The establishment of this facility aims to bridge the digital gap in rural and underserved areas, reducing the dependence of businesses on distant centralized data centers.

This initiative aligns with Duos Edge AI’s broader objective of expanding edge computing workloads in Texas, mirroring their successful endeavors in Amarillo, Waco, and Victoria.

The EDC will operate as a carrier-neutral colocation data center capable of real-time data processing and AI-driven applications.

Scheduled for full functionality in early 2026, the project will be inaugurated at the Region 14 ESC headquarters.

Last September, Duos Edge AI inaugurated its fifth edge data center in the rural Texas panhandle.
