Summary:

  1. Infinium introduces the Infinium Edge platform for AI and HPC workloads, utilizing immersion cooling technology for efficient heat management.
  2. The custom-engineered dielectric fluids in the Infinium Edge system target high-density data centers, removing heat directly at its source to enhance thermal performance.
  3. The platform enables operators to deploy next-generation AI hardware at higher densities, improving reliability and reducing infrastructure complexities.

Infinium recently unveiled the Infinium Edge platform, specifically designed to cater to the demands of high-density artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. This innovative system incorporates immersion cooling technology, addressing the critical issue of efficient heat management in data centers. The surge in power densities of GPUs, CPUs, and other components has underscored the importance of cooling in optimizing the performance, efficiency, and scalability of data centers. In response to this, Infinium has developed custom-engineered dielectric fluids known as Infinium Edge Immersion Fluids. These fluids have been meticulously crafted for AI and HPC data centers, aiming to extract heat directly at its source, thereby sustaining high-efficiency thermal performance.

By utilizing Infinium Edge Immersion Fluids, operators can now deploy next-generation AI hardware at significantly greater densities, thereby enhancing reliability and reducing infrastructure intricacies. Unlike traditional air-cooled centers that can typically support only around 10-20 kW per rack, and direct-to-chip liquid cooling achieving 40-80 kW, immersion solutions present an opportunity for even higher densities, showcasing their potential in shaping future data center designs. As AI workloads continue to surpass the capabilities of current cooling technologies, immersion-based techniques have emerged as a viable strategy for enhancing thermal efficiency and density.

Infinium Edge’s platform is underpinned by a solid foundation of chemistry and industrial process engineering, meticulously designed to facilitate large-scale, immersion-cooled data center operations. CEO Robert Schuetzle has highlighted the platform’s transformative impact on AI infrastructure, emphasizing its dual advantage of enabling faster computing and sustainable operations, while concurrently reducing the power and water consumption associated with conventional cooling methods. Moreover, Infinium Edge fluids are synthetic and free from petroleum-derived contaminants, ensuring consistent performance even under the high-temperature conditions common in AI and HPC environments. With its cutting-edge technology and sustainability focus, Infinium Edge is poised to revolutionize the landscape of AI and HPC data center operations.
