This week on the GeekWire Podcast, Andy Jassy reveals Amazon’s plan for $200 billion in capital expenses, mostly focused on AI infrastructure, but investors are not impressed. Microsoft’s financial results exceed expectations, yet the company sees a significant decrease in market value due to its reliance on OpenAI. Additionally, OpenAI secures 10 floors of office space in Bellevue, new taxes impacting startup exits and high-income earners are proposed in Olympia, and bots now have their own social network. In a featured interview, GeekWire co-founder Todd Bishop chats with computer scientist and entrepreneur Oren Etzioni about AI agents, the startup landscape, combating deepfakes, and effective AI leadership.

Etzioni, known for his roles in various AI ventures, compares Moltbook to agent networks as Myspace was to social networks, hinting at the future of secure and pervasive alternatives to come. Stay tuned for the upcoming GeekWire Podcast Live Event on February 12 at Fremont Brewing, where Todd Bishop and John Cook will host a live recording. Additionally, don’t miss the “Agents of Transformation” series and conference presented by Accenture on March 24 in Seattle. Edited by Curt Milton and featuring music by Daniel L.K. Caldwell, this podcast episode promises to be both informative and engaging for tech enthusiasts.
