Durata, a leading engineering firm based in Teesside, is set to expand with the addition of a new unit that will house an Innovation Centre. This centre is designed to attract potential clients from all over the world and provide educational opportunities for students interested in pursuing a career in engineering.
In addition to establishing its first overseas office in Frankfurt, Germany, Durata has secured Unit 3 at the Tees AMP Business Park, alongside its existing Unit 2 base. This new space adds 6,331 square feet to their operations, bringing their total space on Teesside to nearly 10,000 square feet once renovations are complete.
Managing Director John McGee expressed his excitement for the company’s growth, stating, “These are exciting times for Durata. We are proud to operate globally, but we also want to bring the world to us here on Teesside. This expansion showcases our commitment to our roots in Middlesbrough and the supportive business network in this area.”
The upcoming refurbishment of Unit 3 will include the signature blue and white colors of Durata, as well as the Innovation Centre and a new meeting room for design and project discussions. A demo modular building will be set up to demonstrate Durata’s capabilities in creating modular data centers, microgrids, battery storage solutions, and more to meet the needs of clients worldwide.
Middlesbrough Mayor Chris Cooke commended Durata for its dedication to the town, stating, “Durata continues to showcase Middlesbrough’s excellence in their field. The plans for the Innovation Centre are impressive and will provide valuable learning opportunities for our youth.”
Quality Director Alison McGee highlighted the company’s focus on marketing strategy and creating a space for industry players to learn about their offerings. She emphasized the importance of showcasing Teesside’s industrial heritage and the role of their free port in logistics.
Despite their global projects, Durata remains committed to supporting local suppliers and talent. With a workforce that has grown from 20 to 35 employees in the past year, the company aims to strengthen its supply chain in Teesside. Alison emphasized the importance of utilizing local resources and showcasing Teesside’s role in the digital age.
