In the realm of AI, the development of custom silicon solutions like Maia 100 aims to address the increasing demand for large language models and generative AI applications. These models require significant computational power for both training and inference, making traditional GPU-based supercomputers a costly investment. By introducing custom AI accelerator chips like Maia 100, Microsoft is paving the way for more affordable and accessible AI capabilities across its Azure platform.
