Castrol and Schneider Electric Collaborate to Advance Liquid Cooling Solutions

Castrol and Schneider Electric have partnered to establish a new co-laboratory in Shanghai with the goal of accelerating the adoption of liquid cooling solutions in data centers.

The collaborative facility in Shanghai, created under a strategic alliance between the two companies, aims to drive innovation in data center cooling technology, a critical need in the era of AI advancements.

The primary objective of the co-laboratory is to address key technical challenges hindering the widespread implementation of liquid cooling. Through the integration of Castrol’s high-performance cooling fluids with Schneider Electric’s data center infrastructure, including the Cooling Distribution Unit (CDU), server racks, and intelligent power distribution solutions, both companies plan to conduct joint research and development to improve heat dissipation, resolve compatibility issues, and offer comprehensive liquid cooling solutions for data center operators.

Castrol and Schneider Electric emphasize that the co-laboratory will not only serve as a research hub but also function as a demonstration center to showcase advancements in liquid cooling technology to the industry. This collaboration has the potential to drive increased adoption of liquid cooling solutions across various applications, promoting innovation and energy efficiency within the sector.

Peter Huang, Vice President of Thermal Management at Castrol, stated, “In the age of AI, the deployment of liquid cooling infrastructure in data centers is rapidly evolving. Through Castrol’s partnership with Schneider Electric, we aim to deliver complete solutions for the design, operation, and maintenance of data centers, encompassing hardware in server rooms and liquid cooling fluids.”
