DataVita Achieves Prestigious OCP Certification for Hyperscale Infrastructure
DataVita, a prominent provider of critical digital infrastructure in Scotland, has recently obtained the highly coveted Open Compute Project (OCP) Ready for Hyperscale certification. This certification, which has only been granted to three other companies in Europe, is widely recognized as one of the most esteemed accreditations in the industry.
The OCP certification is specifically designed to acknowledge multi-tenant data centers that are capable of meeting the demanding requirements of hyperscale operations, including the ability to support large-scale, high-density, and advanced infrastructure needs such as liquid cooling.
In order to achieve this certification, DataVita underwent a comprehensive evaluation process that assessed various aspects of its operations, including logistics, site access, foundational building infrastructure, network connectivity, as well as the company’s commitment to innovation, efficiency, and sustainability at its DV1 facility in Chapelhall, North Lanarkshire.
With a focus on providing infrastructure for high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI), DataVita has recently unveiled plans to expand its data center capacity to 1GW in central Scotland within the next five years. This expansion will be powered by independent renewable energy sources, showcasing the company’s dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Danny Quinn, the Managing Director of DataVita, expressed his pride in achieving the OCP certification, stating, “This accreditation solidifies our position as a leader in the market and highlights our expertise in managing high-density computing environments. Quinn further emphasized the environmental advantages that Scotland offers, including its abundant renewable energy sources and naturally cooler climate. By attaining the OCP certification, DataVita hopes to initiate new discussions with existing and prospective clients who are considering establishing their operations in Scotland, leveraging the company’s cutting-edge infrastructure and commitment to environmental stewardship.
