Roblox has made a significant announcement at Gamescom Latam, revealing plans to establish a new data center in Brazil, set to launch in early 2026.
This new infrastructure is expected to elevate the overall Roblox experience for millions of users in Brazil by enhancing performance and reducing latency across the country.
The chosen location for the data center is São Paulo, the capital city, strategically selected to cater to the expanding Roblox community in Brazil. Brazil ranks as Roblox’s second-largest market globally in terms of daily active users, experiencing a remarkable growth rate of 181% over four years.
The benefits of having a data center in Brazil are numerous, including improved frame rates, response times, and reduced jitter for players nationwide. Additionally, players engaging in high-fidelity, high-performance games can expect an enhanced experience. The new infrastructure will also support Roblox’s advanced developer tools, leading to potentially more competitive and high-speed gameplay. With reduced latency and improved load times, both high-spec and lower-end devices will enjoy optimized performance. Furthermore, creators will have access to a high-performance environment for their games, expanding their Brazilian player base.
Jerret West, Roblox’s Chief Marketing Officer and Head of International Expansion, expressed excitement about the launch of the new data center in Brazil, emphasizing the company’s commitment to providing a more immersive and responsive platform for users in the region and beyond.
Brazilian developer and creator Matheus Vivian, known as Hermit Crab, commended Roblox’s investment in cutting-edge infrastructure in Brazil, highlighting the positive impact on load times, gameplay smoothness, and opportunities for creators and players in the country.
In addition to the data center announcement, Roblox recently introduced Regional Pricing, allowing creators to offer region-specific prices for in-experience items. This initiative enables creators to tailor prices in Robux to reflect local economies, enhancing the user experience and maximizing earnings. The company plans to extend Regional Pricing to avatar items later this year.
