Black & White Engineering Strengthens Global Presence with Acquisition of Homan O’Brien

In a strategic move to enhance its global footprint in the data centre and infrastructure sectors, Black & White Engineering has acquired Homan O’Brien. Established in 1990 through a merger of two reputable firms, Homan O’Brien brings a wealth of expertise in mechanical and electrical engineering design services across various sectors, including data centres, healthcare, education, and more.

Mick Cairns, CEO of Black & White Engineering, expressed his excitement about the acquisition, stating that the addition of Homan O’Brien aligns perfectly with their growth ambitions. With Dublin playing a crucial role in the data centre market, establishing a regional headquarters in Ireland is a significant step for the company’s expansion. The move is expected to strengthen ties with clients and unlock new opportunities for growth.

Steven Horn, Managing Director at Europe for Black & White Engineering, emphasized the trusted team of experts at Homan O’Brien will enhance their capabilities in the region and support European data centre projects. This collaboration aims to deliver greater value to both existing and new clients, further solidifying Black & White Engineering’s position as a leader in the industry.

The acquisition is backed by Waterland, an independent investment group that has been instrumental in supporting Black & White Engineering’s rapid growth strategy. Wendy McMillan, Partner at Waterland, highlighted the strategic fit between the two companies, bringing together complementary expertise and a shared focus on technical excellence.

Moving forward, Black & White Engineering and Homan O’Brien will work together to scale and expand their team in Ireland, ensuring the successful delivery of regional and international projects. The acquisition marks a new chapter in both companies’ growth journey and sets the stage for continued success in the global market.
