    Article:
Cognizant recently unveiled the Neuro AI Multi-Agent Accelerator, a groundbreaking open-source software tool aimed at accelerating the development and deployment of multi-agent systems. This release signifies a significant advancement in the field of agentic AI, empowering researchers, developers, and domain experts to create and test networks of intelligent agents across various business and scientific applications.

The open-source nature of the accelerator allows users to dive into building and experimenting with AI agent networks right away. Tailored to support real-time decision-making and adaptive operations, the tool fosters collaborative development and customization of multi-agent systems. For large-scale implementations, Cognizant offers a licensed Multi-Agent Services Suite, providing the necessary infrastructure to manage agent networks in operational environments.

This announcement comes at a crucial time in the AI agent market, which is expected to witness exponential growth from 5.1 billion USD in 2024 to a staggering 47.1 billion USD by 2030. This surge underscores the increasing realization among enterprises that networked AI agents can unlock new business value, optimize operations, and create innovative revenue streams. Cognizant’s launch of its accelerator is in line with these trends, showcasing its dedication to advancing practical and scalable AI solutions.

Developed by Cognizant’s AI Lab, the Neuro AI Multi-Agent Accelerator has already garnered global adoption among clients, including Telstra, Australia’s premier telecommunications and technology company. Telstra is collaborating closely with Cognizant to implement and test multi-agent systems, with promising early results indicating enhancements in development speed, quality, and efficiency.

The accelerator’s standout feature lies in its capability to seamlessly integrate a diverse array of agents, tools, and knowledge sources. This includes retrieval-augmented generation frameworks, service level management tools, and general-purpose large language models. Integration is facilitated through Cognizant’s Model Context Protocol or standard APIs, enabling connectivity with popular third-party platforms like Salesforce’s Agentforce, Google’s Agentspace, and Crew AI. An optional coordination layer allows agents to self-organize, assign tasks, and optimize operations effectively, boosting productivity and minimizing errors.

Babak Hodjat, Chief Technology Officer of AI at Cognizant, underscores the importance of experimentation in driving enterprise AI strategies forward. By making the accelerator open source, developers and decision-makers are granted the freedom to innovate swiftly and observe the business impact of their prototypes directly.

Salesforce has also welcomed Cognizant’s decision, with Gary Lerhaupt, Vice President of Product Architecture at Salesforce, highlighting the shared commitment to building trustworthy, extensible AI solutions. This partnership accelerates customer innovation and bolsters confidence in deploying intelligent agents across enterprise environments.

Incorporating a suite of features to streamline development and operation, the Neuro AI Multi-Agent Accelerator includes the Agent Network Designer, which recommends a customized agent configuration based on the enterprise’s specific use case, expediting the transition from concept to implementation. Developers can leverage natural language commands or prebuilt templates to construct systems for applications such as customer service, loan processing, or retail optimization.

The accelerator supports scalable and distributed operations, enabling the connection of both internal tools and external APIs. Agents can be deployed across multiple servers, facilitating global distribution and parallel processing. Compatible with public and private cloud environments, the platform supports most open-source and commercial large language models.

Security and compliance are paramount considerations, with the system isolating sensitive data through private channels, making it ideal for industries with stringent regulatory requirements like healthcare and finance. Additionally, tools are integrated to test agent networks, identifying potential bottlenecks or integration failures before deployment.

Cognizant has successfully implemented the accelerator internally through its enterprise intranet platform, 1Cognizant, serving over 330,000 employees. The platform integrates multiple agents to assist staff with daily tasks such as booking meetings, requesting transportation, or navigating complex HR procedures. The use of agent networks in this context has streamlined internal workflows, enhanced employee support, and improved overall productivity.

By releasing the Neuro AI Multi-Agent Accelerator to the public, Cognizant is solidifying its position as a frontrunner in the next phase of enterprise AI. The decision to open source such a sophisticated tool underscores a broader strategy to drive adoption, encourage experimentation, and facilitate a more flexible, modular approach to intelligent system design.
