Residents of Atlanta now have the option to have their Uber Eats orders delivered by sidewalk robots, thanks to a recent launch by Serve Robotics. This new delivery method comes shortly after the introduction of a commercial robotaxi service by Uber and Waymo in the city.

Serve Robotics, a company that emerged from Uber in 2021, has entered the public markets and is among the 18 autonomous vehicle firms collaborating with Uber to pioneer consumer-facing autonomous technology. Uber reports an annual rate of 1.5 million autonomous mobility and delivery trips within its network.

Atlanta is Serve’s fourth commercial city, following successful launches in Los Angeles, Miami, and Dallas Forth Worth in partnership with Uber. Unlike competitors targeting college campuses, Serve focuses on urban areas, as CEO Ali Kashani believes that city sidewalks pose more complex challenges and offer greater revenue potential.

While the exact number of robots deployed in Atlanta remains undisclosed, Serve plans to increase its fleet from approximately 100 units in Los Angeles to 2,000 across various U.S. cities by the end of 2025.

Uber Eats users in metro Atlanta, including areas like Midtown, Old Fourth Ward, and Downtown, can now enjoy robot deliveries from participating restaurants like Rreal Tacos, Ponko Chicken, and Shake Shack. The service operates from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. with plans for expansion in the future.
