SpaceX has announced a $2 billion investment in xAI as part of a $5 billion equity round, intensifying the ties between Elon Musk’s ventures. This move comes as xAI strives to compete with rival OpenAI in the artificial intelligence sector.
Following the merger of xAI with X, the combined company is now valued at $113 billion. The Grok chatbot is currently supporting Starlink and is being considered for integration into Tesla’s Optimus robots.
Elon Musk responded to speculation about Tesla’s potential investment in xAI, stating that it would be subject to board and shareholder approval.
Despite recent controversies, Elon Musk has praised Grok as “the smartest AI in the world,” emphasizing xAI’s continued investment in model training and infrastructure.
SpaceX, xAI, and Tesla have not yet commented on the reported investment. Reuters has not been able to confirm the Wall Street Journal’s report.
