Accenture has made a strategic decision to purchase a 65% stake in DLB Associates, a US-based AI data centre engineering and consultancy firm. This acquisition, which includes DLB and its affiliated companies, aims to strengthen Accenture’s end-to-end data centre capabilities.
Accenture has recently announced its acquisition of a majority stake in DLB Associates, a leading AI data centre engineering and consultancy firm based in the United States. This move is expected to enhance Accenture’s data centre capabilities significantly.
Founded in 1980, DLB is known for its expertise in data centre site selection, due diligence, and design engineering. The firm specializes in commissioning, construction quality management, and energy optimization services. It has established partnerships with major technology companies and emerging cloud and colocation providers. DLB’s innovative approach aims to help clients achieve market readiness quickly and effectively.
Upon completion of the acquisition, DLB’s 620 employees, led by David Quirk and Neil Chauhan, will become part of Accenture’s Industry X practice. This integration is expected to enhance Accenture’s infrastructure and capital projects capabilities, providing clients with comprehensive solutions from conceptual design to operational performance.
Manish Sharma, Accenture’s Chief Strategy and Services Officer, highlighted that the merger will enable clients to access AI-ready infrastructure more efficiently. The partnership aims to improve site planning and selection while addressing challenges such as staffing shortages and cybersecurity risks.
DLB has been involved in pioneering industry standards, including co-founding the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Technical Committee TC9.9, which focuses on critical aspects of data centers.
The data centre industry, driven by the demand for AI, is experiencing rapid growth. DLB CEO David Quirk expressed confidence in Accenture’s ability to support clients through value creation and joint ideation for next-generation AI data centers. DLB’s Chief Innovation Officer, Neil Chauhan, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing DLB’s capabilities to scale with Accenture’s support.
Accenture’s recent acquisitions of Anser Advisory in the US and Comtech in Canada demonstrate the company’s commitment to expanding its AI infrastructure capabilities. These investments aim to strengthen Accenture’s global position in infrastructure and capital projects, offering a diverse range of services.
While the terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed, the completion of the deal is subject to customary conditions, including regulatory approvals.
