Acumera, a leading provider of edge networking and computing platforms, has recently acquired Scale Computing, a move that will see the formation of a new company under the name Scale Computing. This merger brings together their expertise in edge computing, virtualization, and secure networking, positioning them as the largest edge computing-focused software company globally, serving businesses with varying locations.
Edge networking and computing platforms provider Acumera has acquired Scale Computing, combining their expertise in edge computing, virtualization and secure networking to form a new company called Scale Computing.
The press release announcing the merger states this will create the largest edge computing-focused software company, capable of serving businesses with 1 to 100,000 locations globally.
The new Scale Computing will integrate Acumera’s AcuVigil and Reliant Platforms with Scale Computing’s edge AI and virtualization solutions to enhance edge computing capabilities.
The combined company aims to simplify AI deployment, improve real-time decision-making, and enhance operational efficiency for industries such as retail, hospitality, manufacturing, and energy.

Oaktree Capital, a strategic investor in Acumera, supports the merger, highlighting its potential to deliver smarter and more efficient edge solutions.
Former Scale Computing CEO Jeff Ready will serve as President and Chief Marketing Officer of the new company.
