Summary:
1. Apple is rumored to have acquired WhyLabs, a Seattle startup focused on AI observability.
2. This potential acquisition follows Apple’s history of acquiring Seattle-based tech companies.
3. WhyLabs, founded by former Amazon employees, offers AI monitoring tools and has garnered significant investor interest.

Rewritten Article:

Apple’s latest move in the tech world seems to involve the stealthy acquisition of Seattle-based startup, WhyLabs. Speculations are swirling around the tech giant’s interest in the AI observability company, which was founded in 2019 to help businesses monitor their AI applications for security risks and performance optimization.

While the deal has not been officially confirmed, clues online suggest that WhyLabs may now be under Apple’s umbrella. AI Fund, a venture capital firm that co-led WhyLabs’ Series A round in 2021, hints at the acquisition on its portfolio page. Additionally, Perry Wu, a former general partner at AI Fund, lists WhyLabs as “ACQ BY APPLE” on his LinkedIn profile.

If this acquisition indeed goes through, it would mark yet another Seattle-based addition to Apple’s portfolio. The Cupertino company has previously acquired Xnor, Turi, and Union Bay Networks, demonstrating its interest in the Emerald City’s tech talent pool.

WhyLabs, which spun out of Seattle’s Allen Institute for AI, has been making waves in the AI observability space. Valued at $37 million after a successful Series A round, the startup offers a platform for real-time security monitoring of generative AI applications. Co-founded by former Amazon employees Alessya Visnjic, Andy Dang, Sam Gracie, and Maria Karaivanova, WhyLabs has attracted investments from prominent names like Bezos Expeditions, Madrona, and Ascend.

The potential acquisition of WhyLabs aligns with Apple’s focus on AI technology, despite reports of the company lagging behind competitors in this field. As the tech giant continues to expand its presence in Seattle, the tech community eagerly awaits official confirmation of this latest development. Stay tuned for updates on this intriguing partnership between Apple and WhyLabs.
