Elon Musk’s xAI has chosen downtown Bellevue, Washington as the location for its new engineering center. The decision follows Musk’s previous announcement of plans to establish a presence in the Seattle area.
The news was first reported by the Puget Sound Business Journal and confirmed by GeekWire, with the space being located on the 8th floor of the Lincoln Square South building at 10400 NE 4th St. This move makes xAI the latest AI company to join the growing tech hub in Bellevue, with OpenAI also expanding its operations nearby.
Notably, the proximity of xAI and OpenAI’s offices in downtown Bellevue suggests a potential collaboration between Musk and Sam Altman in the future. xAI, founded in 2023, is recognized for its AI chatbot, Grok, which is integrated into Musk’s social media platform X.
SpaceX recently acquired xAI in a deal worth $250 billion, signaling further consolidation of Musk’s business ventures. The company is currently recruiting for various engineering roles in the Seattle area, focusing on AI research and development. This expansion indicates that the Bellevue office will play a crucial role in advancing AI technologies.
With SpaceX already established in the region for its Starlink satellite internet service, xAI’s presence in Bellevue adds to the growing tech landscape in the Seattle area. More details about xAI’s plans for the office are expected to be revealed soon.
