Colt Technology Services Sells Eight Data Centers in Europe
Colt Technology Services has announced the sale of six data centers in major European cities to NorthC, a leading data center provider based in the Netherlands and majority-owned by funds managed by DWS Group. Additionally, Colt will be divesting two data centers in London to a UK-based data center business, also owned by funds managed by DWS Group. This strategic move will allow Colt to focus on its core business strategy of providing sustainable digital infrastructure to drive customer success and support the AI economy. The transaction is expected to be finalized later this year.
The eight data centers included in this sale are located in Amsterdam, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, and two in London. These data centers were originally acquired by Colt through its purchase of Lumen EMEA in 2023.
As part of the divestment, Colt will be transferring its colocation business, which serves approximately 400 customers, to NorthC. The majority of these customers also utilize Colt’s network products and will continue to be Colt customers. Colt will also enter into a partnership with NorthC and retain network equipment in the divested data centers as part of its global digital infrastructure.
NorthC is known for its high-quality data center services and connectivity solutions in the Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland. The company caters to businesses, IT and managed cloud service providers, institutions, and government organizations with its strong local presence and regional expertise.
Keri Gilder, CEO of Colt Technology Services, expressed satisfaction with the agreement, stating, “We’re excited to have reached this agreement to divest our data centers to NorthC and funds managed by DWS Group. This move will allow us to concentrate on our strategic goals of driving growth, delivering exceptional customer experiences, and building a sustainable network for the future.”
