CyrusOne has announced plans to build a £1.2 billion data centre campus in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, promising a 71% biodiversity net gain and the creation of numerous skilled jobs. The new facility, named LON6, will be one of the largest in Europe, with construction set to begin in Q3 2026 and capacity expected to be available by early 2028.
The design of LON6 will focus on sustainability, exceeding legal environmental requirements and incorporating features such as green roofs, planted walls, rooftop solar arrays, rainwater harvesting, and EV charging hubs. The campus will also include a variety of green spaces, including woodland, meadows, and a biodiverse lake for public enjoyment.
In addition to promoting sustainability, the project will provide a significant economic boost to the local community. During construction, approximately 580 full-time equivalent jobs will be created, with an additional 540 jobs expected once the facility is operational. A training center will offer specialized courses to employees, local students, and apprentices, further contributing to skills development in the area.
