Following the completion of land acquisition in March 2025, the construction of the Jakarta facility has commenced, with the first phase expected to be operational by December 2026. The data center will feature high-density AI racks, raising the bar for next-generation infrastructure in the region. Positioned as a crucial asset in Indonesia’s digital evolution, the center will play a pivotal role in propelling the country towards a robust, AI-driven digital economy. Despite being a promising market, Indonesia faces challenges in digital infrastructure readiness, underscoring the significance of this project in meeting the escalating demand for scalable and energy-efficient solutions.
Founder of DAMAC Group, Hussain Sajwani, emphasized the company’s dedication to narrowing the digital gap in rapidly growing Southeast Asian markets like Indonesia. The upcoming data center aims to fuel innovation and digital transformation in the region. With a commitment of over USD 3 billion in digital infrastructure investments across SEA, the project is poised to deliver sustainable and advanced facilities. The center’s target Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.32 underscores its focus on energy efficiency, aligning with global sustainability standards upheld by EDGNEX.
The expansion in Jakarta follows EDGNEX’s strategic presence in key SEA markets such as Thailand and Malaysia. In 2024, the company announced its inaugural data center in Indonesia, set to be located at MT Haryono in Jakarta. This upcoming facility is positioned in one of the city’s primary data hubs, catering to the rising demand for cloud services, edge computing, and AI deployments. With a regional goal of achieving 300+ MW of operational capacity by 2026, EDGNEX is poised to strengthen its foothold in the dynamic Southeast Asian digital landscape.
