The Data Centre Alliance and Clear Decisions Team Up to Enhance Compliance Monitoring for UK Data Centres
The Data Centre Alliance (DCA) has joined forces with Clear Decisions to introduce a new live compliance and horizon-scanning service specifically tailored for data centres in the UK. This collaboration aims to transform the DCA’s Legislation Horizon Scan (2025–2027) into a continuous feed that enables operators to stay informed and proactive in responding to regulatory changes.
The partnership will offer DCA members access to an online tool hosted on the DCA website, powered by Clear Decisions’ automation platform. This tool will allow data centre operators to stay on top of evolving regulations and prioritize actions related to compliance and sustainability.
Key Phases of the Initiative
Phase 1 (2025): The initial phase will involve the co-design of a pilot “Watchlist / Foresight Radar” focusing on priority topics. The official announcement of this pilot is scheduled to take place at the Data Centre Transformation Conference in October 2025.
Phase 2 (January 2026): The second phase will see the launch of a live Watchlist dashboard on the DCA website, supported by Clear Decisions’ platform. This dashboard will provide real-time updates on key regulatory developments affecting data centre operations.
The pilot initiative will monitor critical areas such as grid connection reforms, lithium-ion battery safety, NIS cyber security requirements, AI policy, and environmental regulations impacting data centre planning and management.
Steve Hone, CEO of the Data Centre Alliance, emphasized the value of this partnership in helping data centre professionals navigate complex regulatory landscapes. He highlighted the importance of providing practical tools to address compliance challenges effectively.
Maximilian Weidl, Co-Founder & CEO of Clear Decisions, underscored the significance of automation in enhancing compliance readiness and sustainability foresight within the data centre sector. The collaboration aims to set a new standard for proactive compliance monitoring and risk mitigation.
The ultimate goal of this joint initiative is to streamline compliance processes, reduce administrative burdens, and improve audit readiness for various types of data centres. The live service will initially be available to DCA members, with plans for broader sector access in 2026.
