The Department of Government Efficiency is looking to implement a new AI tool to cut in half the number of regulatory mandates within the federal government, as reported by The Washington Post.
Citing a recent PowerPoint presentation, The Washington Post revealed that the DOGE AI Deregulation Decision Tool aims to evaluate approximately 200,000 federal regulations to pinpoint those that are no longer mandated by law. The ultimate objective is to abolish half of these regulations by President Donald Trump’s first year back in office.
Progress has already begun, as indicated in the presentation, with the tool being utilized to scrutinize regulations at the Department of Housing and Urban Development and draft deregulations for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
While a White House spokesperson mentioned that no specific plan has been officially endorsed, they commended the DOGE team as top-tier professionals in their field.
This isn’t the first AI tool developed by DOGE, overseen by Elon Musk during the early stages of the Trump administration. Another tool, according to reports, had inaccuracies in estimating the size of Veterans Affairs contracts.
