Pintarnya is a groundbreaking Indonesian platform that not only matches job seekers with opportunities but also provides financial services. Recently, the platform announced a successful $16.7 million Series A funding round led by Square Peg, with participation from Vertex Venture Southeast Asia & India and East Ventures.
Ghirish Pokardas, Nelly Nurmalasari, and Henry Hendrawan established Pintarnya in 2022 to address the challenges faced by Indonesian workers in earning a sufficient income and accessing responsible borrowing options.
According to Henry Hendrawan, co-founder of Pintarnya, traditional methods of job hunting and borrowing in Indonesia involve inefficiencies and limited choices, leading to financial struggles for many individuals. Pintarnya utilizes AI technology to streamline the hiring process and offers secure lending solutions tailored to the financial capabilities of its users.
Statistics show that around 59% of Indonesia’s workforce operates in the informal sector, making it challenging for these individuals to access formal financial services due to a lack of documented income and employment status.
To cater to this underserved segment, Pintarnya collaborates with asset-backed lenders to offer secured loans using assets like gold, electronics, or vehicles as collateral.
Since securing initial funding in 2022, Pintarnya has amassed over 10 million job seekers and 40,000 employers on its platform. The company has experienced significant revenue growth and aims to break even by the end of the year. Pintarnya primarily serves individuals aged 21 to 40 with a high school education or below university level, focusing on blue-collar and informal workers in Indonesia.
