Exploring Cisco’s Deep Network Model: Revolutionizing Business Workflows

As the use of artificial intelligence becomes more integrated into business operations, almost all IT leaders acknowledge the importance of updating network infrastructure to support these advanced technologies. To prepare for this shift, the majority of organizations are planning to increase their investments in network capabilities.

However, simply investing in network upgrades is not sufficient. Companies require networks that can easily scale, reduce downtime, and swiftly identify the root causes of any issues that may arise.

To assist businesses in maximizing the benefits of AI, Cisco has introduced the Deep Network model. This model is specifically designed for handling data-heavy workloads and is equipped with AgenticOps to help organizations enhance performance and operate more efficiently.

How Cisco’s Deep Network Model Operates

The Deep Network model has been trained on a vast amount of data, including 40 million tokens and over 3,000 reasoning traces from Cisco experts. It excels at identifying and resolving network problems and is 20% more accurate in troubleshooting and configuration tasks compared to general-purpose models.

Dennis Mannon, a solutions architect at CDW specializing in Cisco SASE, explains that teams can now utilize natural language queries to obtain curated answers without the need for manual log analysis. This streamlined approach allows teams to quickly address issues such as high latency by simply asking the model for insights.

Additionally, the model can assess the network environment in real-time through live telemetry, providing IT leaders with valuable insights at a rapid pace. This real-time evaluation enables organizations to stay ahead of potential network challenges by interpreting data and trends efficiently.

Enhancing Network Security in the Face of New Challenges

While AI can enhance network performance and automation, it also introduces new security risks, such as model hallucinations, according to Mannon. The way data flows through the network is evolving, with AI models now playing a crucial role. This shift can lead to increased network traffic and the need for enhanced policy enforcement.

To manage these changes effectively, enterprises should collaborate with trusted technology providers to establish robust network policies, advanced visibility, and infrastructure that is ready for AI integration. Mannon stresses the importance of aligning network goals with business outcomes and implementing tailored telemetry rules, segmentation, and observability to achieve desired results.

Cisco is actively working to embed security features directly into the network fabric, moving beyond edge applications to integrate telemetry into the core network. This strategic approach enables the combination of policy enforcement and visibility to create a more intelligent network infrastructure.
