Six influential figures have recently made the decision to part ways with the renowned esports organization FaZe Clan due to unsuccessful contract negotiations with the new management team.
Bloomberg’s latest report unveiled that a group of influencers, including Adapt, Jason, Ronaldo, Lacy, Rage, and Silky, who collectively constitute the entire roster on the FaZe Clan website, have officially announced their departure from the organization.
Sharing his sentiments on X, Adapt expressed his emotional stance after spending 14 years as a part of FaZe Clan, stating, “Over half of my life, I’d be lying if I said this didn’t hurt, but it had to be done.”
A former member who left the clan in August had previously described the situation as one where influencers felt a lack of control, likening their experience to being mere puppets.
Reports suggest that negotiations had been ongoing between the influencers and FaZe Clan investor HardScope, alongside CEO Matt Kalish, for the past six months. Despite the departures, Kalish intends to forge ahead with the group.
In a candid statement to Bloomberg, Kalish speculated on the influencers’ decisions, attributing it to external influences and confusion, while also highlighting the unsustainable financial structure within the group.
Having gone public in 2022, FaZe Clan underwent a significant change in ownership when it was acquired by GameSquare for $17 million the following year, subsequently leading to the dismissal of its CEO.
