DC BLOX Names Greg Carender as Chief Operating Officer

DC BLOX, a leading provider of digital infrastructure in the Southeastern United States, has appointed Greg Carender as its new Chief Operating Officer, while Mark Masi will take on the role of Chief Development Officer. Carender brings a wealth of international experience in hyperscale data center construction, operations, and green energy infrastructure to support DC BLOX’s mission of delivering top-quality digital infrastructure solutions across the Southeast.

Before joining DC BLOX, Carender served as the COO of AdaniConneX, a joint venture between the Adani Group and EdgeConneX. During his tenure, Carender managed a team of over 300 experts in engineering, construction, safety, procurement, and operations, overseeing the development and management of hundreds of megawatts of data center capacity in India. Under his leadership, AdaniConneX became a key player in India’s digital infrastructure and renewable energy sector, boasting over 25 gigawatts of green energy capacity.

Jeff Uphues, CEO of DC BLOX, praised Carender as a strong leader with a deep understanding of operational excellence, sustainable infrastructure, and the needs of hyperscale clients. Uphues expressed confidence in Carender’s ability to lead DC BLOX’s operations during its next phase of growth.

With 20 years of experience in construction management, consultancy, and development, Carender has a proven track record of scaling mission-critical infrastructure globally. Prior to joining AdaniConneX, he oversaw large capital projects for PwC and played a key role in the expansion of hyperscale data centers across multiple continents while working at EdgeConneX.

Carender expressed his excitement about joining DC BLOX, citing the company’s strategic footprint, ambitious pipeline, and unique positioning as key factors that will drive its success in the Southeast. He emphasized his commitment to accelerating momentum, expanding operations, and delivering top-notch digital solutions to customers and communities.

Mark Masi Appointed Chief Development Officer

Alongside Carender’s appointment, Mark Masi will assume the role of Chief Development Officer at DC BLOX. Masi will focus on strategic alliances, tax incentives, energy procurement, and land acquisition to support the company’s long-term expansion goals. Uphues praised Masi’s contributions to DC BLOX’s success and highlighted the importance of his new role in driving the company’s growth.

These leadership changes position DC BLOX to meet the increasing demand for digital infrastructure solutions as the company continues to expand across the Southeast. DC BLOX aims to support hyperscalers, businesses, communications providers, and technology firms in delivering enhanced digital services and driving economic growth in the region.

With data centers in Birmingham, Huntsville, Chattanooga, and Greenville, as well as a cable landing station in Myrtle Beach, DC BLOX is well-equipped to meet the evolving needs of its customers. The company’s ongoing construction of additional data centers underscores its commitment to providing cutting-edge digital infrastructure solutions to the Southeastern United States.
