Introserv recently completed the implementation of a private cloud infrastructure based on Apache CloudStack for a software development company located in Spain. This tailored solution was designed to support the client’s core business systems, including ERP, e-commerce platforms, and inventory management tools. The infrastructure is constructed using high-performance servers equipped with AMD processors and enterprise-grade SSD storage to prioritize reliability, scalability, and automation.
Technical Architecture:
The platform was built using Dell PowerEdge R7515 servers with AMD EPYC 7402P processors, 256GB of memory, and a combination of SSD and HDD storage. The KVM Hosts were deployed on Dell PowerEdge R7515 servers with AMD EPYC 7702 processors, 1024GB of memory, and enterprise SSD storage. The operating system of choice was Ubuntu 24.04 for both platforms.
Implementation Process:
The setup process involved several steps, including preparing servers with RAID configurations, installing the operating system, setting up local connections, configuring the Proxmox VE cluster, deploying virtual machines, integrating nodes into the Apache CloudStack platform, and installing additional providers like Terraform and Ansible.
Key Challenges and Solutions:
Introserv customized virtual machine templates to ensure compatibility with the client’s legacy applications. Network latency issues were addressed by optimizing VLAN configurations and leveraging high-speed 10 Gbps interconnects. Post-deployment training sessions were conducted to facilitate the client’s adoption of the new private cloud environment.
Driving Innovation:
By adopting an Apache CloudStack-based infrastructure, the development team can now quickly prototype, test, and deploy new applications without facing infrastructure bottlenecks. This enhanced agility enables the company to accelerate innovation, outpace competitors, and scale operations efficiently as demand increases.
Conclusions:
Introserv’s project aimed to provide the client with a robust and efficient private cloud infrastructure, enabling them to test the environment early on and utilize IaC tools and REST API effectively. The combination of fault-tolerant server architecture, reliable data storage systems, and strategic equipment placement in a Central European network node ensures low network latency and high resource availability for future software solutions.
