LCL Data Centers Awarded Gold Medal by EcoVadis for Sustainability Efforts
EcoVadis, a leading sustainability assessment platform, awards gold medals to only the top 5% of companies evaluated. In response to inquiries from customers and prospects, LCL Data Centers made the decision to undergo an assessment by EcoVadis to evaluate its sustainability policies. This move was also seen as a strategic way for LCL to differentiate itself from competitors in the industry.
Assessment Process for EcoVadis Medal
Companies are evaluated by EcoVadis based on their overall score across four key sustainability themes: environment, ethics, labor and human rights, and sustainable procurement. Each theme is associated with specific criteria, and the questionnaire is customized based on the company’s size, location, and sector. The highest accolade, a platinum medal, is awarded to companies scoring between 78% and 100%. LCL Data Centers achieved a gold medal by scoring between 70% and 77% in the assessment.
LCL’s Sustainability Performance
LCL Data Centers excelled in the assessment, scoring 70% for labor and human rights, 80% for the environment, 70% for ethics, and 50% for sustainable procurement. These scores resulted in an average of 71%, positioning LCL as a leader in sustainability practices within the data center industry.
Laurens van Reijen, Managing Director of LCL Data Centers, expressed pride in achieving the gold medal status. He emphasized the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and outlined plans for further improvements, particularly in sustainable procurement to address scope 3 carbon emissions. Van Reijen highlighted the importance of innovation and investment in ensuring that LCL Data Centers remain at the forefront of sustainability efforts, with a goal of becoming climate neutral by 2030.
By actively seeking ways to enhance sustainability practices, LCL Data Centers aims to continuously evolve and drive positive change within the industry.
