Microsoft Corporation has entered into a $6.2 billion agreement to lease AI computing power in Norway. This collaboration involves Nscale Global Holdings from the UK and Aker ASA from Norway, providing the necessary capacity with a focus on utilizing renewable energy sources.

The partnership between Microsoft, Nscale Global Holdings, and Aker ASA aims to leverage secured grid capacity and entirely renewable electricity to power the AI computing project in Norway. This move reflects Microsoft’s strategy of renting cloud capacity from third-party providers like Coreweave and Nebius Group to enhance its artificial intelligence services.

In addition to the Norwegian project, Microsoft recently announced a collaboration with Nscale to develop a data center near London equipped with over 23,000 advanced graphics processing units. This initiative is part of Microsoft’s $15 billion investment in cloud infrastructure in the UK over the next four years, aligning with its commitment to expanding its global presence in the cloud computing industry.
