In a groundbreaking move, Nscale has secured a massive $1.1 billion in Series B funding, marking the largest round of its kind in UK and European history. The investment aims to accelerate the expansion of AI data center capacity and GPU-based compute infrastructure across key regions including Europe, North America, and the Middle East.
The funding round was led by Aker ASA, with strong support from existing shareholders such as Sandton Capital, and new participants including Blue Owl Managed Funds, Dell, Fidelity Management & Research Company, G Squared, Nokia, Nvidia, Point72, and T.Capital. Nscale, headquartered in the UK, positions itself as an AI-native infrastructure platform that offers a comprehensive range of services spanning compute, networking, storage, managed software, and AI services from its own data centers. The company is strategically targeting the growing demand for GPUs in the enterprise sector, leveraging low-cost renewable energy sources and regulatory compliance in Europe.
Nscale’s ambitious plans include the rapid deployment of its ‘AI factory’ data centers, including Stargate UK and Stargate Norway, and the expansion of its vertically integrated AI cloud platform. The company has also secured a significant agreement with Microsoft to deliver AI infrastructure in Narvik, Norway, and aims to strengthen its partnership with Dell Technologies to support sovereign AI initiatives in Europe. In addition to physical infrastructure development, Nscale is focusing on enhancing its product offerings across the AI stack, including fine-tuning services, advanced inference APIs, an AI Studio, orchestration tools, and private cloud enhancements. CEO Josh Payne emphasizes Nscale’s commitment to building a cutting-edge AI-native infrastructure platform that will drive technological innovation on a global scale, providing customers with access to critical compute capacity and facilitating the rapid expansion of secure, compliant, and energy-efficient AI infrastructure.
