Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has recently expanded its ProLiant Gen12 server lineup, unveiling new hardware and software features geared towards enhancing virtualization, edge computing, and operational efficiency. This expansion includes the introduction of two new server models powered by 5th Gen AMD EPYC processors, as well as upgraded automation capabilities in HPE Compute Ops Management, and increased support for the HPE Morpheus VM Essentials virtualization platform.

The additions to the Gen12 server family reflect HPE’s strategic approach to addressing the evolving complexity and performance requirements of enterprise workloads. With a strong emphasis on scalability, security, and power efficiency, the new offerings are designed to assist organizations in modernizing their infrastructure across both data centers and edge locations.

One of the highlights of the new Gen12 servers, the HPE ProLiant DL325 and DL345, boasts a memory capacity of up to 6TB of RAM – double the amount compared to their predecessors. This makes them ideal for memory-intensive tasks such as virtualization and edge analytics. Additionally, these servers feature HPE’s latest security measures, including the next-generation Integrated Lights-Out (iLO 7) management engine, providing hardware-level protection from production to end-of-life and offering defenses against potential quantum computing threats.

In conjunction with the hardware upgrades, HPE is rolling out new automation and AI-driven functionalities in HPE Compute Ops Management, a secure cloud-based server monitoring platform. These tools aim to simplify operational processes, minimize downtime, and ensure policy compliance by delivering centralized visibility, accelerated root cause analysis, and streamlined process approval procedures. Early adopters of Compute Ops Management have reported significant reductions in server management time and downtime, along with potential cost savings over a three-year period.

Furthermore, HPE is promoting its HPE Morpheus VM Essentials virtualization platform as a cost-effective solution for maximizing resource utilization and reducing licensing fees by up to 90%. This vendor-neutral software can be seamlessly deployed on the new AMD-powered ProLiant servers, offering improved performance and operational ease. Additionally, for edge computing scenarios, HPE is launching the ProLiant DL145 Gen11 server as part of its Azure Local Integrated System, catering to industries like healthcare, manufacturing, and retail that require compact, energy-efficient solutions for distributed systems.

In conclusion, HPE’s expanded ProLiant Gen12 portfolio aligns with the evolving needs of enterprise IT, providing secure, high-performance, and efficient systems to help organizations adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing digital landscape. The ProLiant DL325 and DL345 Gen12 servers are currently available for order, with shipping commencing in July, while the HPE Morpheus VM Essentials software and DL145 for Azure Local are already part of HPE’s edge computing offerings. These updates solidify HPE’s position in the competitive server and virtualization market, addressing the increasing demand for scalable infrastructure in the enterprise sector.
