In a Nutshell

  • Anticipated iPhone 17 lineup, featuring a new Air model
  • Rumors swirling around new Watch, AirPods Pro, and Apple TV 4K models
  • Potential releases of HomePod Mini 2 and AirTag 2

Apple has officially announced a special launch event scheduled for September 9th, where the tech giant will unveil a range of new products, including its latest smartphone offerings.

The company has distributed press invites for the event set to take place on September 9th at 1PM ET / 10AM PT (6PM UK time) at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple’s headquarters.

The invite hints at the event theme as ā€œAwe dropping,ā€ playing on the term ā€˜jaw dropping’ in a clever wordplay.

So, what can we expect from this upcoming Apple event? While the spotlight will undoubtedly be on the iPhone 17 series, there are some unexpected surprises in store as well.

iPhone 17 Lineup

The focal point of the event will be Apple’s new smartphone lineup, headlined by the iPhone 17. Alongside the standard models, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, a new addition is rumored in the form of the iPhone 17 Air, a super-light and slim device with a single camera setup.

Besides the usual internal upgrades, the traditional iPhone 17 family is expected to feature a revamped design with a new camera module design resembling that of Google’s Pixel phones.

New Apple Watches

Apple is also poised to introduce updated versions of its smartwatches at the event. The Apple Watch 11 is anticipated to retain its familiar design with incremental improvements, including a new high blood pressure detection feature and an upgraded S11 chip.

Additionally, a premium Apple Watch Ultra 3 model is expected to be unveiled, featuring enhanced durability, extended battery life, and possibly satellite text communication capabilities.

Apple is likely to cater to the budget-conscious consumers with the launch of an Apple Watch SE 3.

AirPods Pro 3

After three years since the release of AirPods Pro 2, Apple is anticipated to introduce the AirPods Pro 3 at the event. This next-generation earphones could boast new features like a heart rate monitor and temperature sensors.

Apple TV 4K

Similar to the AirPods Pro, it has been a while since Apple updated its TV product lineup. Speculations suggest a new Apple TV 4K is on the horizon, potentially powered by an A17 Pro chip for enhanced gaming capabilities and connectivity features.

HomePod Mini 2

Apple might seize the opportunity to unveil a successor to the original HomePod Mini at the September event. The second-generation speaker is expected to feature upgraded drivers for improved audio quality, new Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips, vibrant color options, and a UWB chip for seamless connectivity.

Stay tuned for the potential launch of AirTags 2, marking four years since the introduction of Apple’s AirTag trackers. Despite their compact design, the new version is rumored to include an enhanced UWB chip for extended tracking range and improved security features.
